Off to a Birthday Party

For my bff's 3-year-old.

A little retro switch up....

Another example of adding a shirt/sweater to a dress for a change. (Skirts/dresses are longer than they appear...)

My favorite outfit mix up...

My favorite thing to do is to take a dress and throw a shirt over it and add a belt (if needed). Here I added leggings too. Great way to mix it up!

dress: tj maxx (gray metallic leopard print)
leggings: ny&co
shirt: target
belt: from another shirt!
converse: tj maxx

Little bit country, little bit rock 'n roll.

Love this little lacey skirt. I toughened it up a bit with boots and a t-shirt. I also used the curling wand on my hair again...amazing loose curls!

Here are some close ups of the amazing curliness....

Scarf....To Infinity and Beyond!

Love, love, love scarves....but an infinity one is even better!
* Note that I wore brown boots–a neutral other than gray–to keep the outfit from being almost monochromatic.

A Quickie..

Last minute breakfast date with the boyfriend. YES, this shirt needs to be desparately ironed...but who's gonna notice when I'm not in public :)

oversized blue striped shirt: H&M
white leggings: target
converse: tj maxx

Best Necklace Ever!

I love this necklace...the end.
*Note that the shoes balance out the necklace.

Some Flannel with a Twist

Take some flannel and spice it up! Knot it in the front, throw on a pencil skirt and flats.....and VOILA! (If you're gonna try this for work, make sure you wear a tank underneath! NO skin...)

skirt: forever 21 (ditto)

What's the Matte-r?

for nails...i'm LOVING the matte look! and all you need is a topcoat. i use essie's matte about you. but you do have to ask for it. for some reason they keep it locked up!

I Love This Jacket

i love this jacket. the end. what's not to love about a mustard yellow peacoat with a little puffed sleeve. i got it last fall/winter at h&m. so happy weather is getting cool so i might be able to wear it again soon!

To Roll or Not To Roll

couldn't make up mind on whether or not to roll my pants up...i went with not to roll. what do you think?

Curly Cue

bought a new curling iron (wand) from my hairdresser and i'm OBSSESSED with it this week! it so easy to use and my hair never holds a curl...til now. and it even comes with a nifty glove so you won't burn yourself.

THIS is what it makes my hair do...and the best part is that the NEXT day you have big, loose, beachy looking waves.
what is this amazing curliness??

Brights and Neutrals

they are definitely in now. i just love the teal/black/white combo. so striking.

and i LOVE teal with bright pink...please note the nails :)

Late for the Dentist

and with a little cleavage too!  i used the bathroom mirror there, and yes, i buttoned up the sweater once i saw how much i was showing off.

me trying to show how my boots look with the dress...but here they are below, instead.

a little bit country with a little rock 'n roll.
black floral, tiered dress, black sweater, skinny brown braided belt, tights, black boots (i know, i know....i wear them ALL the time!), and watch
dress: xpress (couple years ago)
sweater: ny & co (forever ago)

Menswear, Schmenswear

Who says it should be just for them?

black shirt, black/white/beige belt, beige trousers, white converse
minimal jewelry keeps the outfit from looking too girly and giving it more of a masculine feel.

That Pumpkiny Time of Year

its fall...that pumpkiny time of year! i thought i'd share a recipe that has become one of my favorites. pumpkin muffins. so EASY and so DELISH. and yeeeesss, that is a half eaten muffin you see back there!

Pumpkin Muffins
1 box of yellow cake mix
1 can (15 oz., I believe) of pumpkin
1 tsp of cinnamon
1/8 tsp of ground cloves
1/8 tsp nutmeg
(i probably almost double the spices. i like mine spicey but use the recipe as a starting point. i do it to taste.)

throw it all in a bowl. mix well. spray baking spray on your muffin tins. put batter in tins (i like BIG muffins, so it makes about 6 muffins for me. probably 10-12 for normal people.) bake @350 for 20-25 min. i test mine with a metal wirey thing that i got from pampered chef to make sure they're cooked thru.

enjoy!

The beginning....

Thanks for stopping by! Welcome to my blog...glad you decided to take a look. I'm looking for a way to document the outfits I wear and how many ways to wear what's in my closet. I don't have much in the way of high end clothing..its all done on a working girl's budget :)  And if, in the meantime, I manage to inspire an outfit for you...I'd love to know about it! (That being said, please excuse the not-so-high quality photos.)

This should be interesting...I'd love for you to join me for the ride!

Here's the first outfit post. I have others from last winter that I'll post soon.

date: 4/11/12
outfit: knotted jean tunic, gray/black striped skirt, boots
shirt: target
skirt: target (a year or two ago)
boots: dsw, last winter
watch: dkny (no, NOT the michael kors watch everyone has. i didn't like it when i tried it on.)

i'll try to get close up pics of stuff soon...
