Holiday Dinner Outfit

Holiday dinner with some coworkers this weekend...this is what I decided on: sequined top, skinny jeans, metallic heels, blazer, clutch.  Try this combo and see how it works for you!

Jackie O.? Maybe?

This is probably as close as I'll ever get to channeling Jackie O. Little cropped jacket, skinnies and ballet flats.

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

Careful...this is not for the faint of tummy! :)  It super rich but soooo worth it. I've been addicted to Starbuck's Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate for years but this recipe is even better. How? you ask. I have no idea.

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

16 oz milk (i used whole)
4 oz dark chocolate (i used chocolate chips or you can crush up your fave kind)
4 oz milk chocolate (again, i used chips)
caramel sauce
sea or kosher salt

Take 8 oz of milk, 4 oz of dark chocolate, salt and heat until melted. Whisk while melting. WHISKING is key for this to be smooth. Continue heating and whisking and add rest of milk and milk chocolate with a spoonful or two of caramel sauce. Continue to heat/whisk til hot and smooth.

Top with whipped cream, caramel drizzle and some salt.

ENJOY :)

Before & After

I bought these jeans a year or two ago and they were distressed on the thigh. They are Mek Denim (NOT cheap!) After a few wears, they split. I didn't feel appropriate wearing them even for a girls nite out. So, I finally fixed them! I bought a pair of jeans from Goodwill and cut them up into patches to match the holes I needed to fill. Pulled out my trusty ole thread and needle and went to work! The results are SO worth it!! I can now wear a pair of my favorite jeans again :)

Day to Night

Going from day to night...jean shirt and flat boots for day and a sheer black one shirt and heeled boots for nite. (Ignore the socks...they're for health reasons.)

Aaaannd....some more pumpkin!

This time, pumpkin pancakes! This recipe is pretty simple and easy to make. And most of it you probably already have in your cabinets. This is the recipe I used...I didn't get a pic of the yumminess :(  But trust me, they're good! Just top off with maple syrup or toppings of your choosing.

Pumpkin Pancakes
1/2 c flour
1/2 c milk
1/2 c pumpkin puree
2 eggs
1/8 c brown sugar
1 t* baking powder
1/4 t ground cinnamon
1/8 t ground nutmeg
1 pinch of salt
1 dash of ground ginger

Mix it all up and cook like regular pancakes. Enjoy!
(This recipe made only 7 pancakes for me.)

*For the non-regular cooker/baker, a small t is for teaspoon, and a capital T is for tablespoon :)

All Dressed Up!

With somewhere to go!  Friday nite, my boyfriend and I will be attending a fundraiser that will be mostly outside. Though Florida is warm compared to most of the country, it will still be cool for being outside.  I got this shorts jumpsuit from Mark a few months ago and haven't had a whole lot of opportunity to wear it. This time I decided to dress it up! Put on a suit jacket with a belt, bubble necklace, tights and heels to polish it up...and I rather like it :)  Also included the photo on the right to show what it will look like with a blazer on to keep me warm.

This one is so soft and comfy to wear!

My favorite outfit mix up...

My favorite thing to do is to take a dress and throw a shirt over it and add a belt (if needed). Here I added leggings too. Great way to mix it up!

leggings: ny&co

belt: from another shirt!

Little bit country, little bit rock 'n roll.

Love this little lacey skirt. I toughened it up a bit with boots and a t-shirt. I also used the curling wand on my hair again...amazing loose curls!

Scarf....To Infinity and Beyond!

Love, love, love scarves....but an infinity one is even better!
* Note that I wore brown boots–a neutral other than gray–to keep the outfit from being almost monochromatic.

A Quickie..

Last minute breakfast date with the boyfriend. YES, this shirt needs to be desparately ironed...but who's gonna notice when I'm not in public :)

What's the Matte-r?

for nails...i'm LOVING the matte look! and all you need is a topcoat. i use essie's matte about you. but you do have to ask for it. for some reason they keep it locked up!

I Love This Jacket

i love this jacket. the end. what's not to love about a mustard yellow peacoat with a little puffed sleeve. i got it last fall/winter at h&m. so happy weather is getting cool so i might be able to wear it again soon!

To Roll or Not To Roll

couldn't make up mind on whether or not to roll my pants up...i went with not to roll. what do you think?

Curly Cue

bought a new curling iron (wand) from my hairdresser and i'm OBSSESSED with it this week! it so easy to use and my hair never holds a curl...til now. and it even comes with a nifty glove so you won't burn yourself.

THIS is what it makes my hair do...and the best part is that the NEXT day you have big, loose, beachy looking waves.
what is this amazing curliness??
